Last year Cleveland Golf introduced putters with the unique 2135 Raised Alignment aiming and the True Feel Innovation (TFI) face insert. Those features are now in four new mallet putters plus Cleveland has introduced the blade-style Huntington Beach Collection. Both will be in stores Sept. 16.
The 2135 system has the sightline positioned at the center axis of the golf ball, i.e., 21.35 millimeters off the ground, so correct alignment can be achieved regardless of whether the user’s eyes are exactly on the line of the putt or even if they are inside or outside of the line. With the sightline raised above the bottom flange, where it is on other putters, to be even with the center of the ball poor eye alignment is compensated for.
The TFI insert is a milled, copper-infused aluminum face with a polymer layer underneath for better feel. This also redistributes 90 grams of mass to the perimeter of the putter head raising the resistance to twisting for better results on off-center hits. Priced at $160 there is also a Counter Balanced model with a 35-gram heavier head and 70-gram heavier grip for $200.
The Cleveland Golf Huntington Beach Collection is a new line of milled putters with a choice of three classic designs. Each has a soft 304 stainless putter head and a new milled face with a coarse, diamond-shaped pattern four times deeper than the previous versions. This gives added friction at impact for a more consistent roll. The Huntington Beach Collection putters are priced at $100.
